Blue light therapy uses light to treat certain conditions on or just under the skin, soothing and cooling blue light calms nerves and builds vitality and works as a natural cleanser for the skin.

It is a proven and effective treatment for acne reducing blackheads and whiteheads. Blue light LED works by killing Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that lives below the surface of the skin that is responsible for acne. It can be used to improve skin texture and reduce sebaceous hyperplasia, or enlarged oil glands. It can help with removing sun spots, acne and even scars that were originally caused by acne.

Blue light acne treatment is a non-invasive, pain-free procedure that uses blue light wavelengths in the range of 415 and 450nm to kill the Propionibacterium Acnes or P.acnes bacteria within the skin. Blue light works by penetrating the skin's hair follicles and pores which harbour bacteria and can cause inflammation and therefore acne. Bacteria are very sensitive to the blue light spectrum- it shuts down their metabolism and kills them. Unlike topical treatments that work to decrease inflammation and bacteria on the surface of the skin, blue light treatment eliminates the acne-causing bacteria within the skin before it can feed off the oil glands and cause that redness and inflammation.

Blue light therapy can be used to treat mild to moderate acne that is already present on the skin or to control the condition before an outbreak occurs.

Blue light treatments work best on acne when combined with red and near infrared (NIR) therapy. This is because red and near infrared light can absorb deeper all the way through each layer of skin and even into the underlying tissues. There, red and NIR treatment can address any systemic inflammation.
